Find beauty in the simple things...

....Hello, and happy Tuesday!  I hope you're all doing well! I had a bit of time to put together the definition of simplicity today.  I got out my embossing tool to see if it still worked, and voila! It still does! ;)

Blended in some watercoloring, with also large stroke coloring to complete the look on the big flower. This Camellia by Technique Tuesday is a lovely one for embossing.

Tied it all together with a red and white piece of twine, I had originally opted for a matching color, but the red was a good fit for the pink, which I often find an odd color combo at times.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I AM......

This Simple Stories Collection is really perfect for the project that I've been spending some time on lately....out of the three albums that I've completed this summer....the fourth one will be a bit more personal in nature, about ME.....It will be more an album reflecting - simply - how I have progressed and changed within the last 20 months....my own personal strengths, weaknesses, my moments of happiness, my moments of struggle ~ my overall moments:

It will reflect on those days where I felt despair, how I dealt with it.....and what I initiated to change all of that.....It will decisively end with where I AM now....which is:

Loving Life...
Who I want to be...

The circles on the LO represents the main character and the life force 'around' her (ME) that enriches and fulfills her happiness.  The album itself will comprise a lot of my deepest thoughts and how some of my new ventures has changed me.

It's a gorgeous collection and I love it!  Here is the album portion of it that I'm still layering together all of the little bits and pieces:

Some of my favorite colors!!  And here's a close-up of some of the pretty sentiments:

Enjoy! Hope you're all having a fantastic week!

amazing YOU.

In an effort to use up all of my supplies ~ because honestly, I just don't have any more room to store my crafty stuff.  It's becoming enormously too much over the years.  Must really use everything I can to make it worthwhile. Either purge or use, right?

The PL kits that I've been using are way too pretty to use solely on scrap pages....so I have been playing with them and putting a lot of the cards onto, well, bigger cards.  So much fun to work with these individual pieces, mixing and matching and ultimately layering for a desired look:

5 different pieces of cardstock were used from the PL Kit.

I love these happy colors together.....Pink and Black have always been one of my favorite card color combos and with the addition of some blues, makes it pop just a bit.  I did some tiny bits of stamping at the bottom with a Hero Arts stamp set called Color Layering Happy Day Flowers.  The sentiment is also from the same set.

Added some twine, a really old butterfly wooden chipboard, a few yummy clear crystals, and done....a happy little card!!

Enjoying the everyday.....

I was sorting through all of my photos today, and aside from all the family ones, I noticed I have a ton of photos that don't consist of 'people'. So much photography taken in which 'things' - everyday/small things that make me happy were captured. It's important for me to remember that capturing life isn't just about people and places, it's also about the things that we most enjoy - the things that make our days just a little brighter and easier......and in one 12 x 12 compilation so far, I captured what my 'everyday' love was all about:

Mainly photography ~ of flowers, food, the things I cook and bake, wrapping gifts, journals, cute stuff, etc.  And I couldn't think of a better way to organize all of my favorites than to continue to use the current Favorite Things Kit that I love so much.  Since a lot of it was pink in color - I knew the kit would work well, once again, for my photos.

This was really fun to organize and put together....hope I can make a few more of these pages of my personal favorites in the future.

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Tiny Little Elves.....

Oh, the cuteness.....I played a little bit with this set today called Elves by Lia.....super sweet....aren't they adorable? Makes me happy:

There's nothing I like more than some super bright colors against crisp white.  And I can imagine these elves being on a lot of Christmas tags, and some tabletop placards too.  So fun!  The sentiment comes from this set called Peace & Joy. It's a tiny little card, 4 x 4.  Super simple and to the point. ;))

PL Favorite Things...Hello Family Time...and These Two Men of Mine...

Two albums are finished and I'm thrilled! I'm currently working on my 3rd album which incorporates Summer and Family all in one.....with the most emphasis on family.  For both pages I've used the same Becky Higgins/Heidi Swapp PL Kit called Favorite Things Core Kit.  But both have entirely different color schemes.  I'm so picky about my color coordination and go off of the colors that are in my photos.

These first two photos, I captured family togetherness, my main colors were bright pink, mixed in with gentle green and florals:

Even though the only 'pink' that was in any of the photos was some portions of my dresses, I used that to pull together the entire look from the other photos.  And here is a close-up of the journaling:

Next up, I concentrated on a page with only my husband and son together......the blacks, bright yellow/green, and the distressed green really blended well with the photos I chose:

I loved capturing the memories with these two together.....I hope to share more down the road....

And you know what's the best part about all these albums? Chris actually looks at them from time to time.... he may not understand why it is....but one day, when I'm long gone...perhaps he will still look at them and understand exactly why I made them.

Hope to be back next week with some more Christmas cards, traditional and non-traditional......How are you all coming along with holiday cards? Christmas is almost here....crazy, isn't it? But it's the best, I soooo love making holiday cards and sending them out....It's truly the spirit of Christmas.
