Night Flower

My card today uses a stencil, some distress stains, and deep shades of blue....yum!! I can't get enough of all these stencils and blue is one of my favorite colors to work with!

This is a very simple design, I wanted the flower to stand out, so I left everything else surrounding it fairly subtle.  This is a huge stencil so it would fit on an entire card unless you wanted to only use a partial bit of it!

And.... for anyone celebrating the Chinese New Year tomorrow, I wish you a very Happy New Year!! May it be filled with much happiness and good health for you all!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks ever so much

How about a one layer card today? So hard to resist putting lots of dimension on my cards, but sometimes, I absolutely love one layer and collaging:

Thanks ever so much

I used mostly Tim Holtz Distress Inks for the leaf stencil and Distress stains to dabble on the two flowers.  Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Stain Inks were used for the flowers and I wasn't concerned about staying within the lines, I just simply used the daubers and pounced it on to the flowers and the white cs.  That's what is nice about collage looks, it's ok to look abstract.

The bird stamp was inked directly in black.  The leaf stencil colors are Spun sugar and Worn Lipstick.  I used a sentiment from Mama Elephant to finish off the look.

Have a wonderful day!

Non-traditional Valentine's & My Blog Hop Prize Winner!

Hello! I'm here today to share a Valentine's card that has no red, no pink, and no hearts, fun challenge....this could also be a wedding card as well....I had fun using the negative cut of a leaf die as well as the leaf die itself on the same card:

The small leaf die is a new one from a company I have never bought from before, it's from Poppy Stamps, Inc. and the die is a small Marianna Vine Background. The big 'love' die is from SSS. And my color scheme for this was a light yellowish/golden hue, it's really a soft yellow actually. I embossed the white cardstock with a classic polka dot Cuttlebug Embossing folder.

AND NOW, for the winner of my blog candy from the Hero Hostess Blog Hop post...goes to:

I adore you....

Do you know of anyone whom you say this to? ;) I know of many, it's one of my favorite short phrases! This card is very busy looking.....I used a combination of different textures, patterns, stamping - and added in some soft, vintage patterned papers. I also like to stamp directly on the pp:

I adore you

I love this set from Avery Elle, it's an older one called Lots of Love but has so many different shaped stamps and fun sentiments. Lots of potential here.  I'll be back with some Valentine's cards that aren't red or pink. ;)

Have a beautiful week, everyone!

2014 Hero Arts Hostess Hop and a Give-A-Way

Welcome to the Hero Arts Hostess Hop, featuring fabulous new stamps from the 2014 catalog! I am your last stop on the hop for today.  If you've been following along, you've just arrived from Kryssi's blog! If you have come to my blog on your own and would like to start from the very beginning of the hop, please re-direct to the Hero Arts blog.

Hero Arts will be awarding prizes from randomly drawn comments.  For a chance to win, simply comment on any of the stops along the hop on any day, including each days starting post at the Hero Arts blog. In addition to all the fun, I will also be having a Give-A-Way of my own (see below), so don't forget to comment for your chance to win here too!

For my first card, I used the floral stamp from this set called Things We love.  The sentiment comes from this set called Family Vacation.

For my 2nd card, I used some of Hero Arts' fun daubers (pastel green, lime green, ultra pink, pastel blue and lemon yellow) to apply the color to the flowers - also from Things we Love, and the leaves are from this gorgeous stencil set called Night Flower!

And my final card uses the woodblock stamp Poppy! I mixed water with some orange and pink inks together and painted them onto the poppy for a watercolor look.

Here are some items for my Give-a-way - (6) Steel dies, (4) inks, (1) pack of assorted pp and (1) stamp set. And I may throw in a few surprises.  ;) One commenter will win all of these items (U.S. and International shipping).

Be sure to tune in tomorrow at the Hero Arts Blog as we kick off another day of hopping with 5 more, very talented Hostess designers!

Bear Hugs

If I had an adorable little girl, I would be making so many cute little cards for her. ;) But since I don't, I do have the joy of making cards for my nieces (well, they aren't really little anymore) and for girlfriends with daughters.....this is a little card for a young girl:

My sweet, friend Lenny gave me the cute girl stamp set from My Favorite Things and the yummy patterned papers from Echo Park.  Check out her blog if you haven't yet, she has beautiful projects and is a fabulous colorer!

I also did a little bit of coloring - used some heart dies, paper flowers, made my own flag banner with a toothpick that I modified. All in all, just a very colorful card that a little lady might enjoy!

Hello Lovely

Happy Friday, my friends! It's so nice outside and we will be having some beautiful weather in the coming days, I'm excited!  I wish it was like this every January! ;)  So here is a card I put together this morning, was in the mood for some flowers and bright colors - when do I not like flowers, right?

I'm still on a kick with the Basic Grey patterned paper collection called 'Fresh Cut'. And I played with the Simon Says Stamps Clustered Leaves Die.  The sentiment is from Mama Elephant. I have this thing for taking apart sentiments and only using the words I want. So I only used the word 'Hello' in this stamp.   I threw on some florals, a stick pin, some twine, and a chipboard sentiment and button to finish off the look.

Cardstock: Neenah Solar White.
Corner rounder: EK Success.
Patterned Papers: Basic Grey, Fresh Cut.
Clustered leaves die: Simon Says Stamps.

I Love You

Nothing makes me happier than a bug than a 5 min. card and one that puts a smile on my face - The cloud and hearts are from this Heart Rainfall Die:

The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Lovely Mum's set. I took the word 'more' off of the set and just stamped the "I LOVE YOU" portion.

All Patterned papers are from Basic Grey's Fresh Cut Collection.  The bicycle is a sticker element from SEI. Soooo simple, if you're looking for a very quick Valentine's or Friendship card design, this would be it! Have a good one!

Hugs's been a very busy day today, have been making a lot of projects, I think I've been stamping all day....completely wiped out at the moment but here is a card I'll share....very delicate, it's actually much softer in real life, but I enhanced it so you could see the details:

I played with a large letter die from SSS, I purposely left it white. I wanted that white-on-white look.  I used a super fun Hero Arts Dauber ink (pastel green) for the leaf stencil, and added additional pastel inks for the floral stamps and the butterflies.  The patterned paper is from Basic Grey.

Cardstock: Neenah Solar White.
Leaf Stencil: Simon Says Stamps.
Pastel Green Dauber: Hero Arts.
Flower and buttterfly and leaf stamps: WPlus9 Design Studio.
Additional inks: Memento Pear Tart, Yellow, Orange, and Pink.

Patterned Paper: Basic Grey.

One word for 2014

Happy New Year, everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful start to your New Year! Each year, us crafters sit down to re-evaluate our lives and we begin to choose our ONE word for the year....that one word that will define our year - that one word that will hopefully, and ultimately improve our lifestyle.  So for my ONE word this year, it will be:

"Doing" - a very simple word, nothing fancy.  If you recall last year, my word was 'Content'.....being satisfied with what I was and what I had, and not wanting more.

This year, I want to just DO IT!  If I want to accomplish a goal....then do it! No waiting around, no thinking about it too much, no worrying endlessly, or dreaming about it.....just set forth to accomplish it.  If I want to say something, or Thank someone for what they've done for me, then I must do it! Before it's too late....

No more procrastinating.....just simply...."Doing".  Don't do it because you have to, but because you want to.........What is your ONE word for 2014?  I would love to hear!
