Silent Night

This card was published in the Create: Christmas Cards Idea Book for the month of November.  It was for a non-traditional color category.  I thought it would be fun to use oranges and blues and a hint of brown. I love non-traditional colors on holiday cards.

Hope you're all having a great day!!

So Thankful....and an update on me

Hey all, long time no post.  I'll be able to share some cards in the next few days, yay!  Here is a very clean and simple Fall card I made.  Very easy and I like the crisp colors on it:

so thankful

Love the fun, embellished stickers from American Crafts and I used Lawn Fawn's ABC's set to make my custom sentiment.

So for anyone who knew about my arm problems, I had pain in my left arm about 2 months ago.  Turned out I had a case of tennis elbow (an overuse of the muscles/tissues in your forearm).  Went to doc and he gave me a cortisone shot to help the pain.  It was painful to put on clothes, to drive my car, and to do other simple things around the house.  As of 2 months ago, I decided to suspend all crafting to help my arm heal.  Soooo....any cards you see me post will be cards I made months ago for submission and you haven't seen them yet.  I will continue to rest my arm and will not resume crafting until I'm fully back to normal.

I am sad, as I can only look at all of your wonderful creations thru Twitter and FB, and I miss making just one simple little card.  For now, you will see limited posts, but I will be back one day........ :)  See you.

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink.
Leaves, tree layered adhesives: American Crafts.
Alpha letter stamps: Claire's ABC's/Lawn Fawn.

A TC card....

...appropriately since 'almost' everything on this card is from Teresa Collins.  I love all of her collections, and the embellishments and such that go with her paper products, so fun:

The non-Teresa Collins products is the cardstock which is from Bazzill, the frame stamp and yellow ink is from Hero Arts, and the white pearls are K & Company.  Hope you're having a great weekend so far!  Enjoy!

Welcome Baby

A baby card today that I created using Crate Paper's Little Bo Peep line, a little different from your 'typical' baby card. Thought it would be fun to use the little fawn embellishment from this set:

welcome baby

I used some pretty papers from Webster's Pages and added the pearl from TC.  The blue, scalloped trim chipboard is also from TC.

Enjoy and have a great week! We have all of next week off for Thanksgiving!  It will be nice to sleep in but still much running around to do! :))

Hello Sunshine so glad to see you

A card today using TT stamps, Hero Arts stamps and embellies, and pretty papers from DCWV.  I colored in the flower with  my copics:

Hello Sunshine

I love pretty blues mixed in with light browns and this design was a very classic, traditional look with the image stamped on a die cut and placed over a horizontal ribbon tie.  A few matching colored pearls finishes off the look.

Hope you are all having a great day!

And you know how I love flowers and pastel colors.....I know I am a strange one for disliking cold temps....but that is just how I I'm treasuring every last bit of the sun this week or maybe the rest of the month? Yay!!

Just popping in to share a quick vintagey card that I like, my favorite is the floral trim and the rose image, do you like vintage?  I fell in love with it a few yrs. back.  I'll be honest, I wasn't always a fan of vintage, took me awhile to like the look of it.

Keeping this short and sweet, gotta run off now for a few hours! Hope your day is good!

Hello Friend

It took me a while but I finally jumped on the washi tape wagon, and I must say it's loads of fun!!  I've made several cards with different types from diff. manufacturers.  I don't like the look of some, so that has been disappointing, but these tapes from MME is my fave to date:

hello friend decorative tape

Very simple card and the tape is lovely against a white background.  It's really hit or miss, some tapes look good on the roll but I've been disappointed once I apply it to paper......then other times, some tapes don't look that great, but once you put it onto paper, the colors really shine through, so it's very strange, have you had that experience or is it just me and I'm going crazy??  Sometimes I won't buy too much since I'm afraid what the color will look like once on paper.

Decorative tape: My Mind's Eye/The Sweetest Thing.
Accordion flowers: Crate Paper.

Transparency letters: Little Yellow Bicycle.

You know how much I love purple, right? And mixed in with some greens, and light yellows....and ofcourse, delicious papers from Webster's Pages....makes it easy to throw together a little shabby kind of a card:

life is beautiful

The scalloped chipboard and sentiment chipboard is from My Mind's Eye.    Hope you all have a fabby day!

Black and Blue

I've done a few cards with this color combo before and I must admit, I think these two colors are unique together, do you like it?

your love fills my heart

I love taking this Hero Arts floral stamp and stamping it in plain black ink right on top of a very pale black and white patterned paper.  That's all I did was a partial stamping on 2 ends of the card.  Matted the paper onto several sheets of black, blue, and white cardstock, and I was finished.

The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday.  And I coordinated a matching ribbon for the blue paper. Now that I look at it more closely, I think I should have moved the sentiment just a tad more to the left.  Oh well.

That's it for me tonight.  Hope you had a great day!

Happy Monday Morning!  A very bright card for today. This card theme was for a sketch using 3 different colors and one element:

Youre so sweet SC AUG

It was published in the August issue of CARDS.  Do you like to work with sketches?  I love sketches, they are so fun and get your mind working!

Enjoy your week everyone!

Playing with ribbon

The theme for this card was to use ribbon.  So I took some of this pretty lace, crocheted ribbon from Maya Road and made a little flower:

I measured how big I wanted the flower to be and started a base from the bottom....and just twisted the lace around, and around until I reached the top center.  That's where I added the small, white flower to complete the look.

Fun card to make and the color scheme is one I normally don't go for but thought it was interesting to experiment with, glad I did!   What are you doing for World Card Making Day tomorrow?  I don't think I'll be creating this weekend at all, will be out and about on the road,  but hope you all get to make a card or two!!

Owlways & Forever

A little card here today for all of my owl peeps!!  And I know I have a lot of friends who love owls.....I always think of them when I am out and about shopping and I see owl mugs, pillows, silverware, coin purses, t-shirts, pens, pencils, name it....

Owlways and forever

That owl sticker is one of many stickers from Doodlebug's collection called 'doodle-pops'.  They are so cute and come in all different shapes and themes.

The sentiment is from a My Cute Stamps set that I've owned for a while.  Love their products!  Hope you enjoy the card!  See you.

A September favorite of mine

Just sharing a card that was published in the September issue of CARDS.  This was one of my favs that I submitted, I was happy how it turned out:

Happiness is u grandmother

And here's what it looked like in the September 2012 issue:

I have been sick for about a month now, more known about by my husband and my mom than anyone else really.  I have been weak lately but life must go on, right? Still must be a mom.  Anyways, trying to rest my body but can't seem to avoid the internet....BAD me!  So, I better rest a little or a lot!

If you see me online, pls. tell me to get off and go rest! :))

Have a great day/week everyone!

Ho Ho Santa and a Layout

Another little holiday card for me today and a multiple photo layout documenting Christmas:

Are you in the mood for Christmas yet?  My boy has already given me his Birthday gift list for his b-day next month and has given me a partial Christmas list!  You see how early things work in our house? ;))

Have a great day and stay cool wherever you are!  Enjoy!

Merry and Bright.... about 3 months, Christmas will be hear...can you believe that?! Not sure I'm ready for Christmas, are you? Anyways, thought I would share some cards that were submitted for the holiday categories but weren't picked up...I'm almost sure this was for a 'snowman' category... :)  The problem with showing these reject cards is you can't remember what it was for because you made it about 7 months ago.

Merry and Bright snowmen

Isn't the snow guy cute? Everything is from October Afternoon except the pearls and cardstock.  Fun little card, very CAS!

Have a great weekend!

Thank You

A bright and cheery card I finished up this morning.  I am giving this to a lady at school.......and what makes me happy are the colors of these flower stickers:

Thank you

Another good way to use up your pile of stickers and knick knacks, throw several of them onto a card and make a vertical or horizontal pattern! Mix and match the colors for a streamlined look.

Enjoy, and hope your day is wonderful!

First of Autumn

Here in the states it's the first day of Autumn, marking the Fall weather, and the beginning of cooler temps....and brings us lots of warmer and soothing colors like auburns, mustards, oranges, forest greens, and teals.  This is one of my favorite 'leaf' stamps from Hero Arts called the Leaf Flourish:

Fall Blessings

I've used this leaf stamp in several ways, coloring/blending with markers, and my favorite is embossing with white embossing powder then blending my distress inks like these older cards below:

Celebrate Leaf Flourish

happy Thanksgiving leaf flourish
Wonder how else I could play with this stamp?  Is it cooler where you are?  We are still drenched in heat, but we should be seeing the Fall weather around October.

See you!

Smile and Hello Friend

Been making lots of cards today, some for pub calls, others for fun and just for me.....isn't this one cute....little masking tape stickers from Pebbles:

smile hello friend

I was going for a block look with the tape but decided to just go random, I added a dimensional sticker from  MME, and a fun flag from Bella Blvd.  Added a super large pearl from Teresa Collins.....gotta love those large ones!  Rounded only one corner of the card.  And I'm done.

Enjoy! Hope you are enjoying Labor Day weekend!

Thursday, August 30, 2012

A dear friend of mine sent me some lovelies in the mail, a fun Spellbinders die and a new Hero Arts stamp set that I didn't have yet:

The Hero Arts/BG stamp set is called Garden Frames.  The frame was so elegant that I decided to make this card feminine in yellow and soft pink.

I added a double ribbon, used my copics to color in the small flowers on the frame.  Finished it off with some gems and cut partially the butterfly die in the corner. Can't wait to use the other frame in this same set.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Doodlebug Invite

This birthday party invite was very fun to's one of those projects that never took off or made it anywhere though....never even had the party either.....

Birthday Invite

As fun as it was to make, it was very time consuming to mass produce......maybe 10 would have been ok....but if you wanted to make 20 or more of these, it would have taken some time.  And I ran out of supplies. All the stickers are from Doodlebug Designs.

The flags, I made myself by simply taking my favorite patterned papers and trimming them into a triangle shape.  After that, adhere to toothpicks.  So simple.

I thought I'd show it anyways, and I hope it provides inspiration for you if you need some fun ideas to use up your DD products!

JOY holiday tag

Is it too early for Christmas projects?  You might be thinking in this heat, yes....I know a lot of us crafters get a head start on our holiday projects with Christmas in July.  Here's a fun Santa tag:

Joy Gift tag

Tags are my favorite to make!  He's a cute 'chubby' Santa, lots of layering on here with pp's, chipboards, stickers.  Most of the elements are from October Afternoon, and the gems are from Doodlebug.

Are you ready for x-mas - just 4 months away if you think about it, yikes!  Have a good one, everybody!

What curls?

There are no rules to scrap booking.  I love to add lots and lots of flowers to my layouts, even for a boy, I think as long as the boy is relatively young.  I may not use so many flowers as he gets older.  This LO is a funny story about his hair when he was much younger:

what curls JAN

Up until he was about 3, approx. around there, so hard to remember, but he was known for lots of curls right on the top center of his head....and no where one would have ever believed he had curly hair as he got older as the curls disappeared and his hair was perfectly straight.  It is so funny to look back as I remember his hair was COMPLETELY out of control, we really didn't know what to do with it at times.

I did not have a 'thought' bubble for the title, so instead I used a 'cloud' sticker and the button stickers were the little circles leading to his head.

Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

Thanks a bunch

I made a whole bunch of flowery thank you cards, really CAS, two feminine ones for 2 of Chris' swim instructors, and I need to make a manly one for one guy instructor, anyways, here is the flowery one:

thanks a bunch blue

The flower is from an older Hero Arts set.  Love getting out those older stamps!!  And the pretty butterfly die was sent to me from sweet Lin.

That's it for me.  My summer ends in 2 1/2 weeks.

Hero Arts, Al Edwards, Technique Tuesday, Bazzill, Cheery Lynn Designs, Versafine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black, Neenah Solar White, Copic Markers, Teresa Collins gems.
