I simply enjoy you....

Hey all! Just me here, playing with some frilly pinks, and shades of lavender:

IMG_8986

I just love playing with colors and seeing what results I get....from bold....to bright...to pastels....I love colors, don't you? What would we do in our lives without color....I can't even imagine.....

I think this is a much softer look than my last card!

Here's a quick list of my supplies, I'm going to be very generic, sorry - not too specific today, didn't write it all down this morning as I was rushing out of the house:

Hero Arts, K & Company, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Copics, Versafine Onyx Black Ink, Round Corner Punch, Cosmo Cricket, Prima flowers, and image sent by Kiara (sorry, don't know the name of this young lady holding the cupcake....eeks!)

A PB Christmas....and photos from an HA class!

I love this darling stamp from Penny Black, isn't it cute? Once again, I incorporated a somewhat non-traditional color combo for x-mas, with hot pink and canary yellow. I did use some red though....love pairing red with yellow:

Snow Kiss

The image is called Snow Kiss, I made any white portion a little softer with a pale white copic, so the bear and the fur on the girl's hat and around her coat have a creamier type of color.

The sentiment is from a new Christmas set from Hero Arts called Sending Holiday Cheer...love this set!

And speaking of fun things from Hero Arts, yesterday I was very fortunate that I had the opportunity to take a class with Hero Arts' very own Ms. Sally Traidman! She is so very fun and cheerful! Here is a picture with some of our local Hero Arts fans:

Sally Traidman's Class

From left to right: Nancy Krueger, Kelly Marie Alvarez, Ivy Wong, Sally, and I.

This photo below has two of my favorite local stampers: Kathy Ethington in the far back and middle. And Barbara...she has the glasses perched on her hair.....they both teach at the LSS and are so talented:

Hi all! Goodmorning and happy Saturday! Today I'm playing with clean and simple....and I'm mixing old with new stamps...I love to do that, it's just fun:

*Wink* *Wink*

Hope you enjoy!

Not quite ready for Christmas...

....after all, the weather is in the high 80's here, and I'm still wearing flip flops and shorts.....so, it is still summer for me.....however, I couldn't resist and wanted to play with this darling reindeer:

IMG_8946

She is a sweetie and I love her....I colored her in, trimmed the entire deer and adhered over blush and white cardstock....kept it really simple....and added some diamond glaze in the background....a little hard to see here.

In order to not have to trim out around the horns, simply double stamp your image once you know where you will be placing it.....then use the 2nd image and adhere on top.....this way the horns appear more natural.

I want to color this in differing shades of brown and see which one I like the best.

Hero Arts:

CG211 - Magical Background.
CL357 - Holiday Dolls.

Playing with my little girls....

.....my sweet HA girls, that is:

3 Friends

It would be so fun to have a little girl to dress up and play with and buy her lots and lots of clothes! Heee...many friends have asked me if I would have more children, but I think I'm pretty much done now.

3 FriendsA

I am sending this to 3 friends who I consider close friends since childhood....I re-worked the sentiment in the set I used to match my theme. I snipped off an individual 's' letter to add at the end of the word 'Friend'. All the friends will have to GUESS which one they are among the three shown...lol...I don't think it will be hard since they all have different hair colors....

There's a first time for everything....

........I finally did it......dived into Copic Markers.....WOW! What took me so long? Well, I KNOW why I stayed away from them. I was 'content' with the markers I was using but now that I'm using Copics, I don't think I ever want to go back to my old markers.....I'll be doing a lot of playing and experimenting with colors now:

Frost Blue Tall Flower2

I've been reading a lot of tutorials and techniques...so much to learn! Thanks to my friend Nancy for the enabling and giving me a great site to go to for really good prices on copics too!

Here is the full card, I will be giving this to someone very special....she loves pink, and I added some other colors to brighten up the card:

Quilled Flowers

Hi all! Back with another fun post today.........a local stamper that I met, Kathy, makes the prettiest paper quilled flowers! I was able to pick up some of her flowers this past weekend and play with them, I already used them on a previous card but just had to play again...ooh, and I just realized this is, yet another, TALL card! ;)

Paper quilled flowers

The leaf vine is from Great Impressions and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

In good company

Now the challenge with these types of stamps, is finding the perfect sentiment that will go with them but will still balance out the card. These two sentiments from the Huge Hugs set is just right for my cards!

And Heaven & Nature

It is from a set called Heaven & Nature and the images are so serene and gorgeous, and can be used for the Christmas holiday too. I didn't want this to look Christmas like, so my color scheme was yellow and lavender.

I love the sentiment! The background is made from this set called Fanciful Flourishes! That's it for now, hope you enjoy and hope your weekend is good! I'm spending some time with family tomorrow so no crafty stuff. See you all later!

almost....

There is a funny little story surrounding this layout........specifically....the word that is used so much in my life.....don't know if you do this too......but here is the story about the word 'almost' and how it came to be...

almost....

People always ask me...."So, how old is he?" And I would never say, "Oh, he's 2!", or "Oh, he's 5!" Oh....no.......I would always say something like, "Oh, yeah...he's almost six!" Not sure if it's some kind of mental disturbance I have or just the fact that I really LOVED fractions in math, but rounding up my son's age is...well...just fun! Why not?

And do you hear people often say, "My son is 3.5 or 3 1/2!" I've never heard anyone say 3/4 of an age...well, that's a little silly, right?

So I was giggling while I was making this layout, because it's just so me...........;)

And let's not forget other infamous uses for this word, like...."I'm almost done!" "Almost there!" Just too fun! Once again, I had to indulge in my Echo Park papers and embellies! Can't resist the entire Echo Park Line....

I used some older Making Memories felt stickers that I had as well! Enjoy!

Stay tuned as I will be making some more fun cards with Lizzie Anne Designs stamps.....AND....I'll be working with some Pure Innocence images too.........I have loved Pure Innocence for awhile now, can't wait!

Birthday...birthdays....

I think for the month of August, I know the most people with birthdays, from family members, to old and new friends, to former co-workers...it's crazy but fun! My mom requested from me to make her a birthday card for a party she is going to:

Birthday Fern and Seashells

I made two of them for her so she could choose.........these were to be non-girly cards...so I stayed away from fancy flowers, flourishes, and anything really cutesy!

I thought a nature theme with the 3 ferns stamp or a seashell/beachy type of card would suffice! Both cards are distressed, had a lot of fun with it.....I'm curious as to which one she will choose, not typically my mom's type of cards, but it really has to be geared towards the recipient, right? ;)

Enjoy.

Watercolor Petals

I've been wanting to use my Watercolor Petals set for a while now, and wasn't sure quite what to make with these beautiful stamps, but then this months 'Stationery Set' theme over at Hero Arts came along, and I thought this was a perfect use for them! I wanted to use these images in a very soft and subtle manner:

Watercolor Petals Stationery Set

Using this set and a few other HA stamps, I made a card and matching stationery set by stamping only the outer edges of the paper...keeping everything more to the right edge. On the top left, I stamped partially a Little Butterfly stamp!

And that was it, kept it simple and the card has additional embellies as well.

Watercolor Petals Stationery closeup

Now I just need the perfect size box for the stationery and attach coordinating ribbon to it, and it's done, ready for gift giving.

Same stamp...two different looks...

So yesterday, I made a card using this adorable bird cage stamp, it was a simple card, today I thought I'd use the exact same stamp + some additional stamps to make a shabby chic/vintage type card, and here is the result:

it's the little things

Don't you just love that little notebook paper? That is also from the Dream Big set as well as the birdcage stamp.

The butterfly is from Au Naturale which is actually a retiring set and is at 50% off, so if you like it, hurry and go purchase it, it will be gone soon!

I distressed the notebook panel and the birdie and the white doily with TH inks.

The bird, I actually double layered to give it some depth. The butterflies, I randomly stamped and layered with black and TH inks.

Enjoy! Can't believe it's August already...crazy how time whifs by!

Supplies:
Au Naturale and Dream Big - Lizzie Anne Designs.
Tim Holtz inks - Tea Dye and Faded Jeans.
Kraft cardstock.
Jolee dimensional flower.
Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
Mocha ribbon.
White doily.
