Little birdie in cage...

There are two different styles of cards that I want to make with this stamp, a shabby chic one..... which will come a little later.....and this one here is clean and simple:

Birdcage

I mixed some old with new - the branch is an older stamp from this set called Far East! It has some very pretty Asian inspired stamp images in it! I love the elegant fan and water lilies!

The newer stamps with the birdcage and sentiment is from Dream Big!

Enjoy your Saturday!

My summer...well, ok, Christopher's summer starts now, whoohoooo! He just finished up summer school today and will have all of August off. So weird that I'm seeing back to school stuff in the stores when my kiddo was still in school...lol.

Pretty Blossoms!

Hi all! I'm playing with some beautiful flowers today - a combination of stamps from these two sets - Hello Friend, and Vintage Verses:

IMG_8590

I love how versatile the flower images are, turn them around so many ways, and you can get a completely different look!

You can cut it up into pieces and layer it, stamp them multiple times and also use as a background, or put your own stem to make it a standing flower.....there are just endless possibilities! Who doesn't love flowers this time of the season?

Here's a closer look at the tags:

IMG_8596

To make your own hand-drawn stem, take an object that has a curve/angle to it....trace onto your paper with a heavy tip black marker, trace twice if you need to get it darker.

Bo Bunny papers.
Tim Holtz inks - Mustard Seed, Worn Lipstick.

Super-Sized Banana Split

Hi all! Just something fun I came up with for this months Food, Travel, and/or Bookmaking Challenge over at Hero Arts:

Family Sized Banana Split

I took only the top portion of the Large Cupcake stamp and turned it into individual icecream scoops for a banana split dish.

Lots of Hero goodness with their layering papers, mixed accents, and the sweet Cherries stamp as well!

The 'bananas' were free hand cut and 'distressed' in yellow ink. The dessert dish was also cut by hand, so fun to make, I think I was giggling the whole time I made this, I am really dying for some icecream right now! Yumm! This is definitely a LARGE card, good for about 10 people to sign their names!

Thanks for peeking in!

Bird in circle

I've been meaning to make more cards to actually send out and so here is one of them. It uses THIS beautiful stamp:

The art of kindness

I used complementary colors of yellow and lavender. There is a little bit of manganese blue added to the birdie....liked how the card turned out overall!

I love my deep, eggplant purple ribbon, for some reason my camera likes to turn it a shade of blue in the photo...but it's really a super deep, purplish color. Think I need more for my stash.

Mini + Baby

...now who can resist this combo? I love making baby cards, but don't think I have enough in my stash. Two of these cards are only 4 x 4 and the third card is about 3 x 6. I combined some fun stamping with some really cute baby patterned papers:

Baby Mini1

I did some snipping with the sentiments and mixed them up to get different sayings. One sentiment was just too long for my card so I had to cut that up too!! Always run out of room for my sentiment!

Come fly away with me.....

A couple of fun and whimsical cards for me today.....I didn't feel like stamping today, so these cards concentrate on, yet again, stickers! I challenge you to make a scenic card with stickers only, including the sentiment:

Come fly a kite with me

The sentiment was actually the absolutely hardest for me because no matter where I placed the 'h' and the 'i', it just didn't look right..........so finally after debating it, I thought it would be fun to 'hide' it somewhere in the clouds near the kite!

Here is another one, this one makes me really happy:

Yippee....It's a Birthday!

I chose to personalize the stickers with the word 'yippee' because it makes me feel like a kid again! ;)

Enjoy and I'll be back with more whimsical cards, you see what I mean, one day I'm into tags, and one day I'm into fun and silly.....I'm all over the place! Hope your weekend is a good one!

Patterned paper:

Summer Time EP

I used some yummy papers from Echo Park and fun embellishments from EP and Dear Lizzy.....love all the fun use of the stickers.....I wanted this LO to be really colorful, there is a lot to look at, but I don't think it's too overpowering. I think it still depicts the story that I'm trying to get across which is 'fun in the sun!'

Flower Trio x 2

I wanted to make this stamp HERE seem bigger than it really is, so I did some manipulation with it:

Blossoms

I first stamped the image slightly slanted to the left.....then I inked it again and stamped it towards a right angle making sure to place all 3 ends of the stems directly on top of the flower that is on the very right side.

I then added two extra stems by inking only a small portion of the stems.

And this was the finished look...I colored in my flowers using all of my favorite colors for summer, hope you like it!

Summer Lovin'

I made this layout using some more fun Making Memories papers......you know, I'm starting to like a lot of newer lines out there that I haven't tried yet, but Making Memories products will always be close to my heart, including their patterned papers...just love their stuff:

summer lovin'

I guess you could say these are more 'soothing' colors for summer, not quite so bright as 'summer' time is normally depicted, but I like it, a little different.

The journaling notes the differences in things that Chris enjoys between indoors and outdoor activities.
