Love early..........

Ok.....so it's summer time, and don't we all want to sleep in? ;) But I also love it when everyone gets up early too....because I can get so much done....laundry, crafting, cleaning the house, and breakfast pretty much all before 10 a.m. and I LOVE that!! Makes the rest of the day easy.

So I made a SUPER clean and simple card this morning using THIS set:

Sending good thoughts

Look at that - no gems, pearls, ribbon, glossy accents or heavy ink....but I think it's sweet. :)

I hope you all have a sweet day as well! Enjoy!

Supplies:
Hero Arts stamps: CL443 - Good thoughts.
Bazzill cardstock.
Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

Twine hammock...

Just a fun card I made today....boy, this card had a day...let's see, it was dropped several times on the floor, got wet, and smooshed with some 'cheetos' fingerprints from a 5 yr. old....yes, the cheesy potato chips, but through it all, it survived..lol:

Little hammock

I used stamps from this set called Let's Chill and I took twine to make a silly little hammock, wish I had some netting but didn't, would have looked a little more real..haha!

Enjoy! Hope your summer has gotten off to a good start....it's been busy around here with me taking the little one to all his favorite places....he'll have another week off before summer school starts!

Supplies:
Hero Arts stamps - CL438 - Let's Chill.

Dress Boutique

Hi all! Hope your weekend is going well.....my favorite thing to do is combine different stamp sets and see what I can come up with....I love playing with this Kiss from the Sun set:

Shopping anyone?

I can just see so many fun variations of working with the clothes! So this time, I decided to paper piece a whole bunch of the dresses and have them hang on a clothing rack.

To make the clothing rack, I used stamps from this set called Sew Artsy!

For the sentiment, I personalized it with some older alphabet stamps called Bird Branch Alphabet!

Hope you enjoy, too much fun making this! This type of card would be great for someone who's a shopaholic, don't you think? Or just to invite your girlfriends for a day out!

Supplies:
Hero Arts:
CL138 - Bird Branch Alphabet.
CL446 - Sew Artsy.
CL439 - Kiss from the sun.

It was 1982.....

.....and, oh, how I remember it so well! I was 12 yrs. old, in 7th grade and I was so excited that I had an ACTUAL typewriting class....whoa! I loved typewriting class.........it was the only class I looked forward to, well maybe Art class came in a close first, but anyways............it was a true symbol of what was the start of the technology that we have today:

You're just my type

What I loved best was all the fun noise that 30 students would make at the same time on those noisy machines! And oh, the TIMED tests were the best, ready.....GO.....and then DING..........stop.......and the teacher would tell you how to calculate how fast you typed, TOO FUN! And, remember, for those of you who know typewriters.......the difference between the manual, liquid correction fluid and then, ta-da..........there was the fancier correction tape that you could put inside your typewriter..haha!

I loved every bit of it and how strange it is now to be an almost obsolete piece of culture.....my child will only read about it in books, he will never really 'see' it in person!

This was such a fun SET to work with, can't wait to ink up the other images!

Supplies:
Lawn Fawn stamps - Just my type.
Bazzill basics.
October Afternoon.
Ribbon.
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Classic scalloped ovals lg, and classic ovals lg.

Playing dress up!

I usually don't make 2 doll cards in a row, but I couldn't resist....this time, instead of working with the doll stamp as is....I thought it would be fun to change it up a bit:

Baby Doll Top

I took the head from the doll in THIS set and also used the dress and pants from the set called Kiss From the Sun.

I thought it would be cute to make the dress into a little blouse or at least it looked like one of those baby doll tops that are so popular nowadays!

I did some paper piecing with some fun patterned pp from K & Company. I don't do paper piecing a lot so it was really fun!

I love my little girl, this is how I would dress her if I had a girl....heheheheee.......that's why it's good to have lots of nieces so you can spoil them with girly clothes! ;)

Supplies:
Hero Arts:
CL439 - Kiss from the sun.
CL444 - Sending Smiles.

Other:
K & Company paper.
Prima flowers.
Versafine Onyx Black ink.

They sang to Josh Groban's "You raised me up".....and a card to share.

Now I don't know about you.....but if you know Josh Groban's song "You raised me up....", then you know why a parent might CRY while its being played at a graduation ceremony......WOW! I will show you pics and videos of my son's graduation today in a bit.......but first off, just a real quick card I made:

A summer garden

I used two sets on this card to make it a little fun and whimsical! The beach ball actually comes from this set called Let's Chill. I thought I'd add that on to the fun scenery which consisted of stamps from this set called Sending Smiles! For some reason, I'm always associating balls and toys always laying around in a garden or backyard, don't you?? Well, I guess if you have kids! ;)

Ok, so that was just a super fun card that was simple and required some coloring, loved doing all the coloring!

Now, here are some photos and videos of the graduation, I only chose some out of the many that I took. This is Chris standing with his classmates on the bleacher platform. He is in the white, long sleeve shirt on the very left, first row (all the caps on their heads, the little pinwheel batons, makeshift diplomas, and certificates were made by PTA members that don't even have Kindergartners, so generous of them!):

With one of the aides:

IMG_8182

Giving me a BIG smile:

IMG_8171

With some of his buddies, BTW, there were 3 Christopher's in the class....I'm sure it was a task keeping them all in order and not mixing them up...lol:

IMG_8183

IMG_8184

The videos contain 1) Chris getting his certificate and 2) a short one on his class just entering the auditorium. The JG song video is too long and big to show here, but the kids rehearsed some movements to go with it, it was so darling!

Thanks for sticking with me through the long post! Phew!

CL444 - Sending Smiles.

And a close to another wonderful year.....

I didn't think I would have time to make some teacher cards for Chris.........school ends on Wednesday and so I made 3 cards total for his teacher and two of her aides. I used the fun Emboss Resist Technique shown by Jennifer McGuire:

Exotic Blooms

My cards differ a bit since I don't have any perfect pearls...boo...I'm gonna have to do something about that!

I'm so glad I got these done! Really didn't think I'd make it...will be attaching these to some yummy gift baskets that I got too.

Will try to get some fun photos at tomorrow's graduation.....hehe.....did you ever have a Kindergarten graduation? I never, never even heard of such a thing until I moved out here to Southern California..........Kinder grad!

Enjoy!

A basket full of happiness!

Hi all! It's been a very hectic few days for me lately.....but I am most happy to get a card done today....hooray for a little crafting time, eh?

Sunny smiles

And when I do get a chance to craft, something like this cute little basket with flowers above really makes me smile and a happy gal! It's called Sunny Smiles.

I did a little masking so that the flowers would appear like they are sitting inside the basket.

I finally got some yummy Lawn Fawn stamps too so looking forward to inking them up soon!

"Yes!" was his answer....

........when I asked my DH if this card was as simple as he would like for a Father's Day card:

Happy Father's Day

To add a little more interest to it, so it wasn't too plain looking, I took a glossy photo paper and distressed it with the green ink you see. It's super glossy in real life so it looks kinda neat...like you're in the depths of a forest....the gloss doesn't show too well on the photo here.

It's been super busy here but I'm glad I had a little time to craft for fun!! Hope you have a great day!

Seeing red!

I was going for a totally different look with this card at first, there was supposed to be some embossing, and then, I made changes and more changes and now I have this:

Hello Starburst

A non-embossed card! ;) But I like how it turned out! I used the Starburst Lace stamp which I haven't used enough of....I love this stamp!

I layered it with three different ink colors using HA's punch, poppy, and iris chalk inks.

Sympathy

I needed a simple and clean sympathy card to mail out this coming week and this is what I came up with:

Deepest Sympathy

The card has a few of my favorite Prima flowers, some dry embossing, and a few pearls along with the sentiment to complete the look!

I don't like to be too fussy when it comes to sympathy cards. Hope you enjoy it. Oh, and BTW, have any of you seen this or have this stamp? Don't know if it's new or not but it's called Vertical Clouds - K5400:

Tiny little goals....

....one day at a time....do you have small goals in addition to your 'bigger' ones....let's take for example, one of my 'smaller' goals is to try and use each and every stamp from all the sets I have....yeah! Ok, so maybe that's a BIG goal...but if you think about it....how many of you are like me.......have a ton of stamp sets...maybe 10 stamps exist in each set....and do you use them all??!! I don't and shame on me....so it's time to get these puppies out and ink them up:

hi!

The stamp you see on this card that I've never used is the tree! I miss my clouds stamp so thought I would throw that into the mix too!

Also used some older sets that I haven't touched for a while, fun!

Fun pastels

I'm playing some more with patterned paper today...no stamps......do you like to do this too sometimes? Take a whole bunch of of pp from all of your favorite companies and put them together, and see what comes out of it.....

IMG_8076

I love to sit and stare at patterned papers sometimes, hoard, YES! Using them too, absolutely! Both of these cards are very simple and springlike:

I love the simplicity of the above card, just boom...two strips of paper, and add a little glittered butterfly and flower...done!

These would make quaint little notecards for neighbors and friends!

You are my FOREVER....

.........can it be true? I finally had a chance to go out last week and do a photo shoot for some new photos so I could make a new scrap book page....yeah! It's been ages since I've made a layout it seems.....on the day of our photo shoot, it was a blistering hot day, everyone was tired and sweaty and it was hard, Chris was tired of posing (the things we do to our kids for a smile), but we managed through it and I got a few photos I like!

You are my forever

For the title...I just made up....I thought it was pretty and the theme for this layout is: even though Chris is getting older and becoming a little more independent.....the circular elements you see signify his forever youth and his continuing love for play, bubbles, fun shapes and colors, and the scissors represent his love for arts and crafts, school, and learning!

I have tons of other photos I need to sort through, it was very refreshing to finally make a layout, I guess it just got too comfortable making cards for so long! :)

Enjoy!

Much love...

I squeezed in another card today - think this will be the last of my 'color layering' fun! I could go on and on as I really love this technique:

Much Love

I pulled out some of my older stamps today, my favorite all time Dandelion stamp is so pretty! And I also used this goodie called Elegant Flower!

This card is a take from this beautiful card HERE!

Getting sketchy...and thinking of Icecream!

.....Ha....is that news? Me thinking of food as inspiration........today, the sun is shining so brightly and it made me want to make a really happy and colorful card! So I took one of Shari Carroll's sketches over at the Hero Arts blog, and then I added my love for Sherbet Icecream........combining the two elements, I came out with this card below:

Summer Roses

So fun! I was thinking about how summer brings about the prettiest of all colors - pastels and brights!

Black and Blue....

....thought I'd go for a bold color combo today:

be yourself one of a kind

This is a very simple card and my main color scheme was black, charcoal, cerulean, and soft pool....once again, I just had to play with some more Color Layering, too fun!

I changed this card several times and with several colors....also realized that Color Layering can be tricky too! Too much layering of colors can make the image look like a total mess! Which it was! So I turned to the old stand-by of keeping it simple and centered....The two lighter shades are in the background and the darkest shade of black is the central focus.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Color Layering

I saw this Color Layering technique earlier this morning and it was really fun to watch the video....but I had to run off and take care of errands.....but was totally excited to try this when I got back later today:

Smile

For my colors, I used varying hues of green and purple! Two color combos I absolutely adore!

I had a lot of leftover papers so I decided to make a matching scrapling as well!

Joy

I substituted the flowers that were in the video and used butterflies. I'm going to play with some more variations of this with other stamps, so much fun!

Enjoy! How was your Memorial Holiday? Things are getting back to normal for me and time to catch up!
