My Friend

Hi all...if you are in the states, hope your Memorial Holiday is swinging along just fine! I got a chance to quickly sneak in a card today...remember this Star Lilies stamp I used a while back, I had trimmed the flower on the other card and it was so hard to trim....so this time, I decided to leave it un-trimmed:

My friend star lilies

And boy, was it so much easier this time around! ;) I decided to reach for some of my favorite October Afternoon papers to pair my image with, and this image looked best on this large and tall nestie.

Enjoy!

A single flower for you.......

Today's card theme is tall and simple....uncluttered and a little elegance...and this is what I came up with:

Single stem blossom

I love making scraplings! I used the flower and the leaf from this stamp set called Blossoms.

I hand drew the 'stem' with a black pen....just did a fast curve to the left and then to the right...just quick, quick!

Added a few pearls, and I wanted my sentiment to hover over the stem.

Enjoy!

Hero Arts:
E3196 - Thoughts Today.
CG148 - Blossoms.
CH211 - Blush Mixed Neutrals.
PS610 - Snow Layering papers.

Smoooch.....

I decided to play with a fun technique today.....called the Kissing Technique.....where two different stamps are immersed together into one look. I kissed together the Friend Definition stamp and the Flourish Background stamp to create this background:

Smooch

I used all TH inks for the blue colors you see on this card. The smaller stamp at the front is called Flower Plate. Another beautiful silhouette floral stamp.

I added a butterfly and a dimensional adhesive flower that I've had forever....thought I'd finally use it! Love these dimensionals, so realistic looking.

Hope you enjoy!

Something's a little shady here....

I specifically made this card to try a technique I've never done before, have seen it done many times by the wonderful Kiara and the sweet Donna! I finally asked Donna how she gently shades the inside edge of a Nestabilities Die, and with that, she showed me how:

Green and Pink Tree

And I tell you, it was NOT easy for a first timer like me!! Love this technique but I had 4 mistakes before I finally liked this version. It was hard keeping the nestie completely firm to sponge up to the very end edges....not to mention giving it the smoothest texture possible.

The color I used to do the shading is Tim Holtz' Spun Sugar....yummy color! I colored the tree in coordinating green and pink and added a little felt butterfly and heart button.

I love the delicate color of the pp from K & Company! Thanks so much Donna for the tip! I'll keep practicing!

Enjoy!

Spunky Funky Birthday...and a little George Washington!

I LOVE birthdays, don't you? I always love bright and cheerful colors for birthday cards, whether it's for an adult or for a child! ;)

Double the fun birthday w/money holder

I used the birthday cake stamp, the sentiment, and the candle from this set called Birthday Expressions! Super fun set!

The candle is straight, so for the two outer candles, I curved the clear stamp just a tad and then inked it up.

For the money holder on the right side of the card, I placed 2 ribbon loops to the backside of the front flap. I measured the width of the ribbon hole to securely fit a dollar bill. Rolled it really tight, then inserted....once it is in, release your fingers and the dollar bill will expand to fit nice and snug.

Enjoy and have a great day!

I just looked at my shirt....

You know how when you're trying to figure out a color scheme for a particular card and it just doesn't come to mind right away, and then you fiddle with your inks and still nothing....well...last night, I wanted to work with this stamp called Scallop Blossoms, and all of a sudden I looked down at the shirt I was wearing and my shirt was yellow........then a piece of my hair was on it....and voila!~~ Yellow and Black it was:

Scallop Blossoms

Isn't it funny how the inspiration comes to you at such moments? Anyways, I love black and yellow together and pretty much the only other color was a brown latte - which is the background color for the main image.

Pairing some stamping with patterned paper, distressing, and lots of layering, the above was my finished project!

Thanks for peeking, hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Moss Green Starburst

I finally got to play with some stamps and get all inky late last night. Here is a card I made using the Starburst Lace stamp:

Handstamped

I paired it with a new sentiment from this set called So Artsy...love this set! My color scheme is moss green, black, and cream. Love these colors together!

I like how it turned out! It's been a busy, busy week for me and next week will be just as mind boggling, we've started to get quotes to remodel our master bathroom.....this was supposed to happen a year ago, but kept postponing and postponing.........it just needs to be done now! So that will be our summer project...wish me luck! I'm really looking forward to a brand new and modern look! I just want it done!! :)

But for today, I'm taking some time out for myself and going to join some friends for some crafty time. :)

Enjoy your Saturday!

Wild Bouquet

I don't stamp directly over patterned paper too often...probably because I always love the prettiness of it and would think I would mar it by stamping on it....but it does give it a nice feel.

So I stamped this Wild Bouquet with basic black ink onto a very light, creamy blue paper:

Wild Bouquet

I left the flower as is with no coloring. Stamped my sentiment to the left and added a ribbon at the top....finished!

Love easy!

It's the little things....

....that make me happy....a little coloring, a little bit of patterned paper, simplicity, and some whimsy and fun:

If you need anything

I loved using the flowers from this set called Blossoms......I paired the flowers with some fun patterned paper from My Mind's Eye and K & Company.

My next card was initially going to be a 'tree' card and somehow, I scrapped that idea and ended up with something much simpler...I LOVE, LOVE this darling paper from Heidi Grace Designs:

Sending happy thoughts

It is sooo colorful, it has rows of cute houses, trees, birdies, and flowers. I decided to simply place one strip straight across the bottom portion of the card........punch out a smaller image of the bird and place it to the right........and a LARGE sentiment was perfect to finish this off at the very top of the card......the sentiment can be found HERE!

For the love of scallops....

I've been working on a few cards today but was only able to finish up this one....I used some scraps of leftover pp with some pre-cut borders.......love the border shape! And I also added in some new stamps:

Smile Garden Bouquet

The flower stamp is called Garden Bouquet! I mixed in some green and red chalk ink for the flowers. The sentiment is from this set HERE!

I'll be back to share a few more cards later! Hope your week has gotten off to a good start!

Indulgence.....

.............in patterned paper....mmm, I love! So today, I decided to give my stamps some nap time and made a card with different types of paper only, it was so much fun!

IMG_7820

My theme was something really soft, yet bright enough for spring time....a large flower for a focal point and some stickers were used too!!

There is no rule to designing with patterned paper, most of the time I simply just mix and match and gather my pieces together, slap them onto my cardbase and see what it looks like...if I don't like it, I try other patterns until I get a result I like.

If you are like me and really LOVE working with 12 x 12 sheets and trimming them up, try these with some intricate borders and edges:

IMG_7830

They are so easy to use and all you need to do is trim to fit your card, the curves and scallops already exist on the paper's design, so it's very convenient! It gives you that 'punched' look except without the punch!

Enjoy!

A little wine, anyone?

When I first saw this stamp set called Artistic Grapes, I knew it would be perfect for a celebratory occasion such as a wedding or anniversary....

Glass of Wine

I purposely did some very 'fast' coloring of the wine bottle, glass, cork, and label, kind of giving it more of an uneven look.

I stamped tone-on-tone the grape clusters stamp onto purple cardstock. Also added some patterned papers from My Mind's Eye and finished off with a sentiment, a punched edge strip, and a ribbon.

Are you a wine or a champagne person? I personally like Champagne more because of the lighter taste....my DH prefers wine more...lol! I have not had any wine or champagne for the longest time!!

Enjoy and hope your day is beautiful!!

Hi all! Wow...where have I been? It feels rather weird being away from blogging for awhile, but I've been busy doing other fun and happy things in my life.....nice to take a break and unwind from the computer a bit....but I'm back today with a card to share.

I love mixing classic black and white with a pinch of yellow....I think it gives a really nice, bold look:

Black Fern

I used the Silhouette Fern stamp and the French Writing with Butterfly stamp. I can see so many colors I'd love to use with that fern stamp...yummy!

Sweet Birdcage

Playing with something old and something new today:

Every day is a Gift

I was in the mood for some type of collage and went with orange, browns, light yellow, and a sprinkle of different colors on the birdcage.

The sentiment comes from this set called Just Find Me. I think this set will be used a lot going forward...I've been looking for some different sentiments that I don't have yet.

Last Minute....

.....cards for Mother's Day and Teacher Appreciation week....and I almost forgot about the latter...ugh!! Bad me...I'm keeping things simple, very simple for mass producing...nothing too intricate since tomorrow is Friday....and I need a few more if I can get them done.....so here is one of them...but I think this took too long...so I may need something even faster.

Lavender Green

I love this nestie shape, it's a favorite of mine now!! It's the little scallops on the top and bottom that I like! I sort of ran out of room for the sentiment (now doesn't that always seem to happen?), so I put the sentiment on the inside of the card....

Thanks for peeking!

I call her a 'Super Mom'

This card is going to one of my neighbors for Mother's Day.........there's a cute little story that goes with this if you'll bare with me:

just for you roses

My neighbor is a mom...her story is remarkable, she's been on TLC/Lifetime.....she's a mom with 4 kids........they are all the same age....quadruplets...7 yrs. old....

And I find her extraordinarily amazing because she juggles all of them at the same time each and every morning....you see, there is this little routine that happens every morning....she leaves the gate at the front of her house ajar just a tad....because that gate awaits my little Christopher when we walk over there to meet the other children at the school bus stop.

And sure enough, once the kids are all together, she and I chit chat a little....it is only for a short time that we get to talk before the bus rolls around, but within that time, you learn amazing things about mom's just like you..........and we never really finish a conversation in time, and when we meet the next morning, we never really continue where we left off....it's usually about a new topic....lol.

And through all of the conversations, I see just how much of a 'super' mom she really is, how she talks with each of them, cleans her house, and talks to me at the same time...........

I applaud her for I know it is not easy.....

I originally had a little ribbon on the left side of the card, but it just didn't look right, so I took it off....I think I will keep it like this...simple...

Thanks and enjoy!

More one layered fun!

My goal today was to try these 6 stamps on one collage and using only one layer:

Sky Gray Hydrangea

I masked all four sides of the card so that the Flourish Background and Old Letter Writing Stamp would stop at about 1/4" from the rim of the card on each side.

I added some TH inks, stamped my butterflies and sentiment, and the Hydrangea. Colored in the Hydrangea with a blue grayish color....

Hope you've been enjoying your weekend!
