My boy turned 6...and hubby is home.

Hi all. I'm finally hopping back on-line tonight. Hope you are all well! A BIG, BIG thank you to all the emails and comments from everyone!! I so appreciate the thoughtful concerns! My DH was released from the hospital with Type 1 Diabetes. A life changing event that will require constant care/monitoring and daily meds.

During this period, my little guy turned 6 and I only had time for a tiny little cake for him, but he loved it! His aunts both gave him super cool gifts and he enjoyed his day! Little C asked where his dad was every day, such a sweet kid! He is too young to understand why daddy was in the 'hoppsital', as he pronounced the word.

Today, Friday.....was the first day all 3 of us went out to the store since last week...DH was a little tired so we kept the trip very short. We were able to pick up our X-mas tree and a few accessories, I've only partially decorated the tree, and no presents yet. Chris looks really happy in this photo, he is holding his stocking:

Ctreestocking

I don't have any crafty stuff to show you, hopefully I will be back to crafting soon.

Thank you again to all for your concern and will try to catch up with everyone. I am starting to get into the holiday spirit as we have our tree now, we're just taking it easy over here....

Tiffany, first of all, I am so glad to hear from you and happy that your hubby is alright. My 19 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 3 years old, so I know just how scary this diagnosis can be. It will take some time getting used to it, but eventually, all the glucose checks, insulin shots and diet will become second nature, I promise. Sending a big hug!

Hi,

Just letting you know that I am thinking of you. Type 1 Diabetes is scary.....esp at first. There is just so much to learn. I say this as my daughter was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago with Type 1. I am glad that your DH is home and please know that many people are thinking of you and your family.

It's good to get a diagnosis for your husband. At least you know there is a plan to follow.
My heart goes out to you . . . Mom's just keep going with all that goes on. So I hope you can get a little time to look after yourself too.

First of all...Happy Birthday to your sweetie! Chris looks adorable!!

I'm so glad you have a diagnosis for your DH. My son, Lance was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the spring of '09, and is doing well. There will be a lot of adjustments for you all, but lucky for everyone...they have better meds and technology than ever. Please do not hesitate to get a hold of me with questions or if you just need someone to talk to. I certainly know how much of a "burden" it can be at first, and would love to help you in any way I can. Sending HUGE hugs to you and yours, Tiffany!!

Hi, Tiff! I had no idea your family was going through this! It's not easy to deal with diabetes, but I'm glad it's at least something that can be managed medically. Glad to hear your DH is home now, and happy birthday to your dear, sweet C! Didn't realize he's the same age as my oldest! :) I'll be thinking of you as your family adjusts to managing the diabetes; God can help you through it. Big hugs to you!
