Bird Collage

Wow! I can't believe that this is my last card for 2010! Amazing how fast this year has passed us by. Thought I'd end it with a card packed with color, something I'm sure we all love is lots of color:

Bird Collage

This card uses the stamp Bird Collage. I decided to stamp it black and leave it as is and work on a collage surrounding the image. I made it a funky looking shaped card.

So how do I want to remember ending the year? Well, let's see.....I'd like to think that this year, crafting wise, I've ventured out and learned different techniques...and....I like many different looks as well.....I like my designs to be perky, fun, cute....I like distressing, CAS, paper piecing, coloring.....I like simple and normal sized cards....I like shaped cards. I like BIG, and I like mini.

I like bold....I like delicate and pretty, too.

I like romantic, I like elegant..........I like shabby and vintage, and perhaps once-in-a-while, a little gothic and dramatic.

So in all, I hope to incorporate all of these styles and many more for 2011!

Wishing you the best and lots of happy crafting in the New Year!

Popping Pastels

I was going to play with another set today, but I looked at the same stamp I worked with yesterday, and just couldn't resist, I think it IS my new favorite background stamp:

Pear and Angel Pink Pastels

Angel Pink Pastel

I decided to ink it up again, and this time in Memento's Angel Pink and Pear Tart colors. Same card design just using different matching colors for each.

Pear Tart Pastel

And my inspiration for these colors come from these yummy cupcake colors that I recently bought:

Delicate vs. Spunky & Fun

I made two very different cards last night....one is a bit gentle:

Many Thanks

It uses this stamp called Large Flower Pattern. I can see myself inking this one up a lot and in so many pretty colors! I kind of like seeing the white on the flower.

....and this one is just plain ol' fun and girly! Wouldn't this be great for a teen? It is this stamp called You Rock:

This little guy makes me happy...

....isn't he cute?

Sleeping Fox

Still playing with some new, yummy stamps...this one is called Sleeping Fox. He looks really peaceful!

I kept this card really simple. Used only a few pieces of colored paper and kept the rest of the focus on the fox image.

Pink and green blossoms

I'm so grateful to have a little down time this holiday season...the presents are tucked under the tree and I have no pressing agendas for now, so I can sit back and enjoy a little and I will really enjoy all the kiddies opening their presents...so fun to watch them! Here's my 2nd card for today:

Blossom Art2

I normally love to color in flowers, but for this card, I decided to emboss with white powder and color in with Spun Sugar and Shabby Shutters, I love the white outline that the powder gives on the flowers. These flowers come from this set called Blossom Art. I want to try this with a light blue distressing ink too, think that would be pretty!

Flower Corsage

I used the new Flower Corsage from Hero Arts on this card, such a pretty floral bunch! I stamped, colored, and trimmed it out:

Flower Corsage

The background is stamped with the Classic Fabric Design in Iris Chalk Ink. And one of my newest favorite sentiments set has to be this one called Made With Love! I adore how whimsical the fonts are, it's just too cute!

Added some glossy accents, gems, and rounded the corners to complete the look. Pretty straightforward design, hope you enjoy!

Give me Spring!

I've finished my x-mas shopping and I think I'm done with making holiday projects...so I'm eagerly wanting to make pretty flower cards and anything fun and colorful, just getting ready for Spring time, I know, crazy, hah? Winter is not really my favorite season...weather wise. So anyhow, I've had these really fun and bright, whimsical looking pp's for a while now and wanted to use them up:

happy bicycle

I paired them up with the fun Bicycle stamp and a sentiment from Hero Arts. There's just something about a cute row of houses, trees, some squiggly lines, tiny hearts, scallops, fun pink colors, and a bike ride that makes me happy! And it makes the yearning for warmer weather a lot easier! ;) Hope it puts a smile on your face!

A Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp...

My sweet Flickr friend Marilyn sent me a beautiful package of lovelies a while back, and in it, she gave me some beautiful Kimmie images....I've never worked with a Kimmie image before so I thought her look would fit really well with the Basic Grey Curio Collection:

Posy

A little gothic and old-fashioned charm - rustic...but with its own personality........is how I would describe these images....had so much fun getting out my copics, it's been a while since I've colored, hah?

Her name is Posy, by the way!

And not only did Marilyn send me goodies but she sent my little C a card too and images for him to color in, isn't she so sweet?! Love having and knowing so many thoughtful crafting friends from all over the world to take time out to do such nice things.

I'm truly grateful for everyone's kindness!

Hope your weekend is off to a fabulous start! Christmas is just days away and the little tiger keeps telling me that I got him this, and this....and that......really? It's funny how he 'thinks' he knows what I bought....either that or he must be seeing thru the wrapping paper! ;)

It's in the ribbon......

Hello fellow crafters! I have not been making cards lately, but I have been busy wrapping x-mas gifts and spending a bit more time with decorating the outside of a box instead of a card:

xmas wrapwebsters2

My fav thing to do is to take the same embellies that I love using on cards and incorporate them into these ribbons, here is another one:

xmas wrapwebsters1

Chris and I have also been making some silly felt penguins and felt reindeers for the tree too:

felt penguin

And, yay, I've officially taken a photo of the full tree, just a small simple one, we love it, I think this year is lots of penguins as the theme:

My boy turned 6...and hubby is home.

Hi all. I'm finally hopping back on-line tonight. Hope you are all well! A BIG, BIG thank you to all the emails and comments from everyone!! I so appreciate the thoughtful concerns! My DH was released from the hospital with Type 1 Diabetes. A life changing event that will require constant care/monitoring and daily meds.

During this period, my little guy turned 6 and I only had time for a tiny little cake for him, but he loved it! His aunts both gave him super cool gifts and he enjoyed his day! Little C asked where his dad was every day, such a sweet kid! He is too young to understand why daddy was in the 'hoppsital', as he pronounced the word.

Today, Friday.....was the first day all 3 of us went out to the store since last week...DH was a little tired so we kept the trip very short. We were able to pick up our X-mas tree and a few accessories, I've only partially decorated the tree, and no presents yet. Chris looks really happy in this photo, he is holding his stocking:

Ctreestocking

I don't have any crafty stuff to show you, hopefully I will be back to crafting soon.

Thank you again to all for your concern and will try to catch up with everyone. I am starting to get into the holiday spirit as we have our tree now, we're just taking it easy over here....

Some News....and a card share....

Hi all,

Before I start, would you pls. say a few prayers for me as we had a family emergency over this Thanksgiving weekend. My husband is ill and has been at the ER/Critical Care Unit at our local hospital since Saturday.

I just got back from visiting him this morning, we hope to have him home soon, I just don't know when at this time. I will keep you updated as much as I can in the days to come.

In the meantime, to keep my calmness and stay focused during this stressful time, I made this card while waiting to get updates from the hospital......

It is with a cute stamp by Jane, it's called Party the Penguin:

UR Cool

I love fun-shaped cards and I shaded the background of the globe with Tumbled Glass and the bottom portion of the globe with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. Added a few fun embellies, colored in the penguins, and finished.

Valentine Cookie

This adorable photo was part of a contest from CARDS Magazine, in which we could use the photo in any way we choose, and submit our Scrap book entry for a chance to win the front cover of February's Scrapbook Trends.

It was a fun challenge and I'm sure there were TONS of wonderful entries! No win for me so thought I'd share what I came up with, used a bunch of My Mind's Eye products along with a Lizzie Anne stamp from the So Much Love set:

Valentine Cookie

The 'cookie' that the baby is holding really reminded me of the big heart stamp in this LAD set! Isn't it cute?

I can't wait to see who the lucky person was who won! Hope you are enjoying the holidays! Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating!

Double the reindeer fun!

Today has been all about crafting! This morning, my son and I made some Thanksgiving paper decorations and we decorated the house...lol....a pumpkin pie, a festive turkey, and two pilgrims and a loopy banner comprised most of our morning and afternoon. I made the drawings and he did all the coloring. So fun!

Then I managed to sneak in a little tag for myself later this evening:

The joy of sharing

I used both the Fancy Reindeer and Winking Reindeer from Hero Arts, thought it would be fun for one reindeer to have a little friend standing together on the snowtop hill.

I also gave the Winking Reindeer the same scarf that the Fancy Reindeer has on. I trimmed the top loop of the scarf to fit the skinnier neck of the Winking Reindeer.

That's all! Hope you are enjoying the weekend, we have 7 more days on holiday here!

The simple things

Had time to play last night with this cute set called Simple Things:

Big home

What's funny about this card is that I used papers from Webster's Pages and Doodlebug Designs together...these two companies I feel, make very different types of papers, but I think it was neat to see how both types of pp worked into one composition.

Love this house, it's adorable and so fun to color!
I wish I lived in a cotton candy pink house.....lol.

Beanie Anya x 2

I played with my new Beanie Anya stamp and placed her into two different card themes, this first one is cheery and playful:

Girly you rock

I tried to match the coloring of Anya with my pp. So fun! A lot of mix of colors here.

My next card, I decided since this is "Beanie" Anya, that she was dressed up to be in a little winter scene:

Anya Joy Tag

This tag has so many elements of all my favorite things, from pp to stamps, to embellies, love it!

Are you a beanie person or what type of hat do you like to wear? I don't wear hats of any kind, they kind of look funny on me! I just like to look at other people wear hats! ;)

BG & MM

I'm working with some fun new papers from Basic Grey and this lovely collection from Making Memories called Paper Reverie:

adore

I am really digging these beautiful die-cut butterflies from the Paper Reverie - Sienne Collection. The glass bauble is also from the same collection. This was a quick card, took less than 15 min. - just glued the papers together, stamped the hydrangea, added the butterflies and sticker, and rounded my corners. Really love how quickly it came together and love the boldness of the red.

Here is another card with the Metallique Butterflies also from Making Memories, I just had to play with more of them:

You make me smile

Added some random stamping from a PTI flower set, used some more favorite patterned papers, some of these pp's on this 2nd card I'm not sure what they are....some of my papers have been getting jumbled up and have no labels, so I don't have a clue as to what it is unless I really know the product by heart and by sight!

Hope you enjoy!

Tag!

I've been making a few tags and instead of showing you all of them, I'll just show you one:

Mimi and tree

Pretty straightforward, and simple - just keeping the focus on sweet Mimi and her little tree! Which makes me soooo excited for the holidays now....can't wait to get our tree!

How about you? Are you ready for the holidays? Dying to go shopping? Over here, trees (artificial ones) are already selling in stores....real ones may have to wait another week or so.

Supplies:

Cuttlebug.

Paper Source scalloped papers.
Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

A Shabby Mimi?

I had a little time yesterday to make this tiny little card:

Mimi Angel2

It measures only 4" x 4" and I made it a bit shabby, I can't help but roughen up the edges on all of my cards lately, don't know why, I am just dabbling in different and fun things...perhaps soon I will be back to a cleaner look on my edges. This stamp is one of many in a set called Mimi's Christmas from Penny Black!

Can't wait to stamp up the other images, think I'll make mini cards for them too, they are such small images!

Have fun!

Penny Black - 30-061 - Mimi's Christmas.

For the love of patterned paper

I love taking my 12 x 12's, trimming them up, and seeing what pieces I can use to coordinate with my stamps, I absolutely LOVE this one sheet here called Party Lights Garden Gala:

Party lights

I loved the tree branch and the paper lanterns hanging from it, that I knew I just had to pair it with another cute bird cage stamp that I haven't used yet.

I also mixed and matched stamp sets and used the tiny leaf stamp from this set called Picnic with Little Red. Love mixing up stamps, too fun!

Another super busy day with holidays and furlough days this week. Chris only has 1 more week of school and then he's off again for one full week! I'm excited to get a Christmas tree up this year and have him help me decorate!

6

I've always received very fun feedback about how I incorporate flowers onto my layouts:

6

And especially since I have a boy, and not a girl, it makes for some interesting designs. I rarely ever use stars, browns or neutral colors, monsters, robots or other boyish themed stamps and papers on my LO's. If I do, it's been very few! I'm such a lover of flowers and flourishes that I tend to view it as how I see my son.

His innocence, his playfulness, his subjectivity to beauty at times when he comes up to me, and says, "Mommy, that flower is beeeuutiful!" I also look at his youth...he is young and so non-complex, unlike you and I as an adult. I think it's ok to use fun florals and such for now....and I try to limit them in certain ways..

Now when he grows up to be in his teens....then I might change how my layouts are designed, but for now....this momma loves her flowers! :) Here's a close-up of the Fabulous Flourish stamp - I loved stamping this in just pure black ink:

Holiday Spirit....

You know when you have an obsession with a certain product, it's kind of like.......you LOVE it for maybe a week or two - perhaps it lasts up to a month or more....then the interest fades...just a tad, don't get me wrong, the 'LOVE' is still there, but maybe you just don't use it as much?? Well, my 'current' obsession is Webster's Pages...stuff like THIS:

sending holiday cheer

Or perhaps THIS, and isn't THIS pretty! Yup, I would have to say this is IT right now! And then as the fascination fades slightly in the distant - I will move on to my next obsession!!! And who knows what that will be?

sending holiday cheer2

I'm also loving these products by Making Memories right now too - called Paper Reverie - so yum!

I hope you go out now and find that obsession, or maybe it's already there! :)

It's all Peachy....

Hi all! A card today using mostly peach colors, green, and a subtle pinch of blue grey:

Celebrate your day

I love making a stem to create a tall flower............to make the hand-drawn stem, I took a Fiskars paper tearer - because it has a curvy edged side...lined it up on my paper and took a black marker and just simply traced the curve.

A dandy tool that I use for lots of things except for what it's supposed to do...lol....I rarely tear paper on it, go figure!

I applied an excessive amount of diamond glaze onto the flower bud and the leaves...love that stuff!

Enjoy your Monday!

Playful

I couldn't help myself, just had to play with this sweet girl stamp again, this time I changed the color of her dress and colored it in Haitian Blue. I used a teacup and teapot image:

I took a tiny little flower stamp that is in the same SET, and stamped it onto the teapot and cup to give it a more fun look!

Wheee...my 2nd post for today, you may scroll down to see my post from this morning. I've been such a huge fan of Holly Brooke Jones' stamps for quite a while now, kind of just sitting back, and admiring her stamps from afar, but now I'm finally inking them up, yay!

I must say, what on earth took me so long? She really has the most adorable stamp line! I love this bird cage, all the images come from this set called Elegant Birds!

I wanted to see how many stamps I could incorporate into a little scenery. I added an extra birdie at the top making it look like he was pecking on the ribbon.

Papertrey Ink - cardstock, ribbon.
EK Success punch.
Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
