LAD Weekly Sketch #59

Hi! I'm back with a fun sketch that I just finished. It is this weeks challenge over at Lizzie Anne Designs. Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I've used this photo on a layout previously, but now I wanted to use the picture again and implement it into a photo onto the sketch! I love making photo cards and for this sketch I decided to turn it horizontally....since I had other little snippets of the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame Cathedral to add to it.
Here are some closeups of the mini photos and stamps:

Don't you just love this poodle stamp?

And how can you go to France without saying this word:

Stamps: Lizzie Anne Designs' Ooh La La collection.

Papers: LAD's French Floral - Pretty Little Papers. Spring Moss and Dark Chocolate from Papertrey Ink.

Scalloped edge punch by Martha Stewart.

Ink: Chocolate.

Saying thanks....

For this card, I pulled out some of my favorite holiday stamps and made a thank you card:

There's so much to be thankful for this season, isn't there? The family getting together, all the great gifts for everyone, conversation, yummy food, and just the simple everyday things that people do for you....I really need to get out more Thank You cards to people....haven't been very good at that this year....hopefully next year!

Here is a closeup of the card:

Materials used:

Papers: Lizzie Anne Designs' Bazzill and French Floral Paper. Hero Arts pink and blue notecards.

Kraft Time

That's Kraft....the brownish looking craft! I rarely use Kraft paper...sometimes but not a lot - I guess it's out of my comfort zone. But I thought I would use it last night and here is the card:

Enjoy! How is your holiday season coming along? Still celebrating or are you relaxing now....hubby and I are dealing with a very feisty little boy right now....he really misses school....and I think he'll calm down again after school starts up...but in the meantime he thinks he is a superhero who can climb a flight of stairs and jump down 5 steps of stairs to the bottom! And he thinks he can do all of this without getting little superhero.....

Have a great day!

I must be quick here, so enjoy both cards...see you again soon!

I simply love that little blue bench - I call it a 'poolside' color.....that bench just drew my attention immediately, in addition to all the other elements within the photo! So the majority of my colors are actually based upon that simple little's very artistic looking, don't you think? Love it!

Spring time is just around the corner....

My goodness, I seem to be getting later and later with my posts....I'm enjoying the holidays with my family and trying to relax more....but I did manage to get in some time for this quick and fun project!

So what do you think? We may all still have some partying left for the weeks ahead, but how about time for some spring projects with lots of soft, pastel colors?

I can't wait for Valentine's and Easter to get here....they are just the funnest - lots of sweet candy and cards, and all the colors are so bright and cheerful! Easter is just around the corner....really....if we have it as early as we did this year!

Merry Christmas to all.....AND the start of something sweet!!

To all my friends, families, and devoted readers who are celebrating the holiday season today - I wish you a much blessed holiday with much prosperity, love, family and togetherness, and patience for the new year! As much as we all love the festivities of good food, conversation, and many's all more so about being with family and loved ones!

I added an x-mas album to the left nav bar entitled "Christmas 2008 - Part 1". These photos were taken here at our home. We'll be visiting my mom on Saturday, the 27th and having another party there, so I will have more pics for you to complete the remainder of the album. Enjoy!

Now on to some fun things I made late last night.....a petite Valentine's enclosure card and matching gift box to go with it:

I'm still playing around with some other ideas to decorate these little boxes...I thought it would be something nice to give to Chris' teacher and her aides for Valentines.

Countdown to Christmas....

Are you as excited as I am? Can't wait for all the fun festivities - especially for the little ones - it's really all about them and the joy and delight on their faces when they open their gifts!

Here are 2 totally different cards that I made - this first one here has softer, more mellow looking features:

This second card - I label as being funky, bright, and cheerful - definitely for the icecream lover!

I'm so so excited about all the fun project ideas that are stirring in my head right now - I have lots of new things to show you in the coming weeks - and as we get closer and closer to our next big holiday....Valentine's....hope you will be inspired by some sweet treats! Mind you, not all of my ideas actually work out on paper just like I envision them. For instance, the very top card posted here was a total disaster from the beginning, it almost went into the round file, but somehow I was able to make the corrections and it turned out ok! :)

Lovin' Mondays....

Happy Monday to you! My most productive day of the week for some reason....

I'm not sure why, but I tend to pack in a whole lot of chores on Monday's - and it's kind of a 'get-it-out-of-the-way' attitude for me - why not do all you can on the first day of the week - then the remainder of the week can be a little more relaxing.....

Today is going to be about 2 loads of laundry, cleaning bathrooms - maybe, more stamping, vacuuming, and organizing paper work. I was going to take Chris out to a fun jungle gym that he likes, but maybe tomorrow. We'll see.

Hope your day is great!

Enjoy the card!

Materials used:

Papers: Chatterbox' s Happy Day Collection and Martha Stewarts pastel papers.

Stamps, flower and button: Hero Arts.

What are you thinking of?

Can you believe it.....Christmas is almost here, but somehow my mind has wandered off, taking a little break from all the Christmas festivities....I'm so ready for spring time and more fun about a fun, cheery, 'very pastel' kind of holiday?

You wouldn't believe what time Chris woke up this morning....5:30 a.m., and so naturally, his dad and I also woke up. We all actually ate breakfast, I made the card above, did all the laundry, and the hubby finished the grocery shopping all before 9:00 a.m.! Now that's what I call super, duper productive! lol.

In fact, there have been many times where my child wakes up really early, and I've found it actually nice - even though a little added sleep wouldn't have hurt, but with all that extra time, I'm able to do sooo much!

The rest of the day was spent x-mas shopping....yay.....I'm just now getting online and my feet are a little tired from the day....

Enjoy the card and hope it brings you thoughts of Spring time fun!

Papers: SEI.

Stamps and pink gems: Hero Arts.

Scalloped edge border.

Inks: Turquoise, black, red, purple, fresh green, orange, yellow, and bubblegum pink.

Candy Ornament from Chris....and some cards!

Happy Friday!!! Before I show you some cards that I made, here's a little something my boy made in school today for mommy and daddy....I LOVE little surprises in his backpack:

Isn't it cute...he's quite the crafter! He's very, very proud of making it, I can tell, when I took it out and hugged him and said, "Thank you, sweetie!" - you could just see the delight on his face. He's so proud that he made it for us. He wanted to keep holding it while eating lunch....

There were a whole bunch of other stuff too...they got another book - they are always getting freebie books which is great...since he loves to read....they made a stocking filled with goodies, and some Santa stickers, lots of glitter, and a handmade story book were also some fun items I saw.....I just love everything he brings home!!

So he's off for 2 weeks now until Jan. - I better get in gear and keep him busy with fun stuff for the coming weeks!

Here are some cards I made earlier, enjoy!

Seasonal Celebrations!

It's that time of the year....almost....where I have plenty of wonderful friends and family members with BIRTHDAY's! And when it comes to birthday's, sweet treats and really cute stamps come in this one:

I adore this cake stamp from Hero Arts....delicious! I, ofcourse, had to make it with chocolate frosting on top....for those of you who know me and my weaknesses...chocolate is definitely one of them!!! Don't you just love that cake?

And some more stamps here that I haven't used yet....I was just simply thinking about my mom and decided to make this card below!

Today is a rainy day, and I didn't have natural sunlight for my photos....but hope these will do....

And amuse you just a tad.....I just want to say that it is quite remarkable the differences between Chris and I......son and mother! The things I've come to notice on a daily basis!

Let's take for instance, this morning - raining quite hard as I mentioned! As I was opening the front door and getting ready to take him out to the bus first initial reaction towards the rain was.....yucky! I'm not a fan of rain, dirt, wet, snow, sleet, cold, and did I mention DIRT? So as I'm glancing outside, a little frown parts my lips and I wince with vivid pain just at the thought of getting wet......painfully, so not amusing for me....hehe.

Chris, on the other hand, perks his head up and looks at me - parts a HUGE, almost devilish smile.....and I ALREADY know what he's thinking and about to do....and all I can do is smile with him as he feasted his eyes on this delightful scenery that lies before us......ahh yes....rain......he ultimate 'jumping in the puddles' bonanza!!!

He is in love with this element that pours down on us - the element that Mother Nature has created for the likes of which a young child joyfully indulges in.....and didn't I for a moment...remember how fascinating it all was to me when I was a child? The fun of running thru the muddy puddles, feeling the water soaking through our socks and seeping into our feet.....aahhh....a child's pure fascination with such.....I let him have his fun for I know that just moments away, he will be rushed upon the is just a thought I'm having right now as I write.....the differences in him and I....

Enjoy the cards...

Oh, little one....

Here are some more baby cards for you to enjoy:

The card below is very out-of-the-box for me! But I wanted to design something utilizing those really cute clothespins that you see there! Aren't they adorable? The girl's blouse was stamped three times and then I individually cut each piece out and 'hung' them up on the string! I want to experiment more with the clothespins and see what else I can come up!

Chris woke up really, super early this morning - he has a knack for getting up early on the weekends....I'm not sure why. He's so used to his normal routine on the weekdays that he probably thinks that he goes to school on Sat. and Sun. too...hehe.....I'm going to try and do some Christmas shopping this weekend...yah....we'll see, such the procrastinator I am in that department!

Hope your Saturday is a good one!

Materials used:

Papers: Martha Stewart and Hero Arts.

Stamps, gems, and clothespins: Hero Arts.

Here is another new layout I finished late has been a very busy day for me....I'm just starting to catch up on emails and everything after being gone for most of the day.....this layout is inspired from a Valerie Salmon sketch:

If you haven't ever visited Valerie's blog....then you must hop on over now and take a look at some of her beautiful work! She even has a sketch class that you can sign up and participate in. I've been wanting to give it a try....but haven't had the time to do so....someday!

Also, a big HUG and thank you goes out to A.N. for letting me use her photos. The color combos for this layout are as follows: Maize Yellow, Teal Blue, Dark Burgundy, Orange, and Spring Green.
