A sneak peek at what I have planned for Mother's Day!

I know, I must be isn't even April yet, and I'm already thinking about Mother's Day....still not too early to think and plan for it though, it will be here before you know it, and this year, I have so many friends and families birthdays coming up that are immersed in-between the Mother's Day holiday - that I just wanted to get a little jump start with all the ideas that are stirring inside my head!! I'm way, way invigorated just for everything that is to come in the next few months - I can't withstand all the excitement....

Below is just a sample that is part of a bigger package that I'm making - could also be part of a new banner too *wink wink*. I found this beautiful lavendar vase and silk flowers at Michaels. And you really don't know how hard I looked for this vase. It had to be the perfect shade of purple and this cute little vase is only about 5 inches tall with the tiniest rim at the top, so perfect for inserting and arranging only a small amount of stemmed florals.

Here's a close-up of the scalloped tag that I made using a stamp from Lizzie Anne Designs. I used my Versafine black ink for the stamping, and an oval scalloped and medium sized oval punch. A very simple, white satin ribbon ties the tag to the vase beautifully.

It is very simple and looks great, I plan on making a whole bunch more with different sentiments and color schemes. I'll be posting some more ideas a little later on, don't want to show too much now and give it all I've got some birthday cards to make now.

Have a great Monday!

His visit to a 'toddler' friendly library...! As a mother of a young toddler, and most moms out there will agree with me, it's a challenge to always find new and exciting places for your toddler to visit and roam about. They get bored easily and are always wanting more things to do and experience - so it's really our jobs to find that for them! lol! Up until now, I've hesitate to take him to a library - a sanctuary for many - because he was so young, very restless and makes a lot of noise - he STILL makes a lot of noise now.

But there is this one library that is close to my brother's house and it's brand new....has a special area that is dedicated to very little ones like Chris....has lots of toys and learning tools, state-of-the art computers and tiny little tables and chairs for their cute little bodies. There are comfy, childrens themed beanie chairs and bags for them to sit in, enjoy, and read some books! There are activities for the parents to enjoy with the kids such as designated story times during the week, and arts & crafts hours. Hey, maybe I can sign up for that one just for!

He liked it and got to experience some fun but is not totally ready to experience the complete quality time that some older kids have with their parents in that children's section. It will take some time before he will really sit down and immerse himself in all the books that are offered there! He loves books and reading so I know he will get into it very soon!

It's going to be another busy and active day with the family today and then back to school for little Chris tomorrow! I will post something tomorrow that I worked on last night. Just a little sneak peek at what's coming up in the next few months. A whole bunch of ideas that I have going on inside my little head. A lot of birthday ideas - I have a ton of birthdays in my family that I want to get prepared for and also Mother's Day too, it's just around the corner!

Happy Friday!

Here's a simple and new card I was able to make last night:

I used pop culture paper from ki Company. I love the aqua blue and black damask patterns, just beautiful!! I thought both of these colors mesh very well together. It's a perfect card for anyone who likes this color combo. The sentiment of 'thanks so much' and leaf stem design is from the Far East Collection at Lizzie Anne Designs.
I used black and cyan ink for the stamping, an oval scallop punch, and a scallop scissor for all the fun trimmings.
There are so many other stamps in the Far East collection that I can't wait to use for upcoming birthday's and other occasions this year, especially Mother's Day! Too excited! Enjoy!

Some things that could ruin a mommy's day...

  1. Mommy picks up son after school and asks him, "What should we do today?"...hmmm.
  2. Mommy decides to call some girlfriends and schedule a quick lunch at Wendy's.
  3. Mommy and son drive to meet friends. Just a couple of minutes into it, son decides he does not like her friends.
  4. He starts screaming, crying, throwing a fit.
  5. Everyone in Wendy's looks at mommy.
  6. Mommy takes son outside to parking lot to calm him down.
  7. He is still throwing a fit.
  8. Mommy and son walk to car and mommy decides to leave.
  9. Son is still angry and kicks his backpack, making mommy's cell phone fly out underneath the car.
  10. Mommy has to get on her knees and both hands, roll under the car to retrieve cell phone. Mommy not happy. Mommy has a streak of dirt across her shirt and pants.
  11. Mommy's friends come out of restaurant to see if she is ok. Mommy apologizes, thanks them for their time and the whole 2 minutes that she got to see them.
  12. Mommy and son leave to go home. Son is still crying - 30 minute drive home.
  13. Son stops crying after arriving at the house, finally...peace and calmness.

Mommy needs to stamp tonight and make a card. It will make her happy and she will try to post it tomorrow. :)

He has a substitute teacher today...

So I was surprised this morning, as most of the parents were - that Chris has a substitute teacher today. His regular teacher had some teacher's meeting/conference so she could not make it. Didn't seem to phase the students though - they're so young, they don't even realize it!

Today has been sooo busy and it's only 10:00 in the morning, and I'm not even done yet....Thursday's and Friday's are usually my 'run errands' day outside of the house. Mon. thru Wed. are usually chores inside the's my life. But the joy that one gets when everything is clean and business is all taken care of - that's the best feeling of joy in the whole world! :)

Oh, by the way, I changed the layout of the blog just yesterday. I previously had a pink LOVE....but then I decided that since I want to do a new banner/header for each month and that each month's color scheme might be different, I chose to go with a more neutral background - so white it is!

I also did not like how things were all scrunched together with no lines to separate individual posts, and the pics were off a little. So I'm so happy with this new layout! Yay! It looks so much better, more spread out and structured! lol. I need structure!

Off to run more errands...have a wonderful day!

A Birthday Wish and all about "Share" Day!

First of all, I want to give a HUGE Happy Birthday shout out to my older brother! It's his special day and I hope it is wonderful for Happy Birthday and the best to you always, E.T.!

Today is Wednesday....and Wednesday is always 'Share' Day for Christopher at school. Each child is designated a day out of the week where they are supposed to bring a long either a toy, a special book, pictures, or just about anything that they want to share with the rest of their classmates! It's fun and I actually look forward to it every week, because it's an opportunity for the kids to see what other students bring, and to also stimulate group playing and sharing together. That's sooo important for kids today!

I'm super glad that his teacher came up with this idea and that it involves every child. It's just neat to me! So I posted this pic below for fun, it was the very first toy that I brought in for Chris on the first week that Share Day started. It's a rocket with The Little Einsteins figurines. Each Einstein member has their own seat. And when you press down on the figure, they talk and sing. The rocket itself makes cool noises and whooshing sounds. Chris loves this toy and the kids love it too!!!

Today, Chris brought in some Wiggles toys...another favorite of his...Wiggles everything, from ipods, to musical books, to plush dolls, and ofcourse, the BIG RED CAR...who can forget that?

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

What I love about Spring....

1. butterflies.
2. flowers, flowers, flowers.
3. short sleeve shirts and bermudas.
4. birthday parties.
5. renewed energy.
6. soft pastels AND bright, vivid colors.
7. put away tennis shoes, take out the flip flops.
8. a reason for a new wardrobe.
9. the sunshine.
10. slushies.

I made this card a while back just for fun. Love the use of butterflies in almost everything I do. I can't get enough of them! The heart shaped swirl design and sentiment is from Lizzie Anne Designs. It's just a very fun and simple card that makes me happy and smile...makes me think of all the wonderful things to come for the remainder of this year!

Our day at the zoo...

Here are some fun pics at the Santa Ana Zoo today - I'll load the rest of them into an album for you to view once flickr comes up. The site doesn't seem to be working right now...bummer. Enjoy the photos...Chris had an awesome day...we tired him out but he still hasn't napped!

A new surprise each month!

I was sitting here contemplating the other day....and I thought it would be super fun to create a new banner each month - a banner that kind of captures the meaning for that specific month, like colorful flowers for spring time and soft, warm colors and a mother's theme for the month of May!

So I got to work on a new project and with some new photos - I came up with a new banner/header for April! I am pleasantly surprised at the turnout! It came out really nice, all the colors blended well together and looks very festive.........oh, I'm so excited! I just can't wait to share it with you once April arrives.......yippee! It will be fun.

Today is a beautiful day - probably about the high 70's, low 80's. We are taking Chris to the zoo for the first time. I think we'll all have a blast! Chris has never been to the zoo before, so it will be a new experience for him! He already loves animals as it is! He loves all the cats and dogs around the neighborhood, so I'm sure a few exotic animals will be even more fascinating to him!

I'm packed and ready to go - camera and all!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day, I'll post some pics later if I get some good ones. :)

They're BACK....

...ah, yes, the early signs of Spring brings many having fun outside, the fresh air, the beautiful sunlight shining down from the sky, flowers blooming, the near end of cold weather....but Spring time also brings our way something else....BUGS....those awful little bugs that invade your house, get into all your belongings, your clothes, every nook and corner, etc. You know what I mean! I don't know what they are called, but they start out as a black larva bug that crawls and then turns into some type of fly with 2 delicate wings on their backs....THOSE...I was invaded by this morning upon awakening!

So it took me a couple of hours of getting rid of them, a lot of insecticide spraying, and vacuuming. I've gotten most of them, but they are still hiding in wait...waiting until I leave the house before they come out again with their And anyone who knows me...knows that I can't stand bugs....I see bugs and I go into this MODE...I put on my tactical gear, armor if you want to call it, and I do my thing, I go in fighting. I know, it's crazy....but in the end there will only be one conqueror this spring/summer season...and it won't be them!

What fun he had....

By the look of all the things that Chris got inside his Easter bag; the cupcake frosting and paint smears on his clothes, and artfully in his hair, and to top it off - the little smirk he has on his face in the first picture ~ I think that says it all....yeah, I think the teacher gave the kids a good day!!

Don't you just love, love the photos where all the kids are walking out at the same time? It's so adorable. Just these little 3-4 yr. olds walking out together is so just have to see it!
I love the novelty yellow chick inside the basket. One of the moms must have brought this for all the kids. I took a shot of this up close so it looks really big, but in reality, this tiny little basket is only about an inch tall and wide. It's so cute!

The Easter Bunny

Here's a really quick card I made up for Chris' teacher. I gave it to her already and she just adored was so fun to make. Sometimes when you need quick, you can still create a very clean look and still keep it simple.

The bunny stamp I used is from Gina K. Designs and the tiny egg stamp is from PaperTrey Ink. The ribbon is one of my favorites in my array of pink shades - light white polka dots on pink. It's kind of a sherbet color. I used an oval punch to create the oval shape on front of the card.

Cupcake heaven

Tomorrow, Christopher is having an Easter party in his class. They will be having an egg hunt filled with colorful eggs and candy, and lots of fun activities, not to mention all the food that all the parents are bringing! I signed up for cupcakes, because who can resist a cupcake! So here are the final results of my endeavor - don't they look absolutely amazing? Actually, the picture does not do them justice, they look even better up close. BUT, there is a story behind my cupcake adventure, one that I feel I need to share because it meant a lot to me - let's just say it started as a crisis at the last minute, my inquiry into the crisis, which turned into a super, unbelievable customer service experience, and overall crisis adverted!

I had ordered on Monday, 24 cupcakes from a company called Mrs. Beasley's. I received a shipment of only 18 cupcakes - they were all super great looking cupcakes - absolutely delicious looking - but I was still missing 6. It was too late in the day to call customer service so I waited until first thing this morning to call. The rep was very helpful and said that they apologized for the 6 that I was missing and would overnight them to me. But the problem was I needed them for Thursday morning, overnighting them wouldn't have done me any good!

So then the rep said, "Oh, no problem, we are contracted with some local bakeries and will contact the store nearest you, have them make 6 fresh cupcakes and throw in 6 free ones for you due to our mistake." "They will hand deliver to you today". Can you believe that? I was just going to die....I couldn't believe how exceptional this lady was in trying to rectify the problem.

I had called in this problem at 9:00 a.m., at by 12:00 noon, a delivery man was standing at my front door with the gorgeous set of a dozen cupcakes that you see in the picture. Totally fabulous! How great is that? Much relief and all is well now...I can sleep tonight. Visit the site if you ever need any confectionery items for a party, I actually might order from them again even though there was that little mistake. But the overall good that came out of it might make me a return customer!

I'll try to take some photos of Chris tomorrow at his party!

My son - Christopher

This is my 3-year-old, Christopher! Yes, I keep reminding myself I should have created a baby blog when he was first born and started at that point in But since I was in such excruciating pain after giving birth, not to mention the first 5 months of his life was a total learning experience for me being a first time mommy...I think blogging was the last thing on my mind, although looking back, I still should have done the whole blogging bit!

He is truly a wonderful, handsome young man, and he seems to get more handsome as each day passes. I sit here sometimes and can't even believe the time that has flown by and that he is actually this old now. He's a doll - lots and lots of thick brown hair. He has big, huge eyes and the longest eyelashes you will ever see - if you could see it! I'm not sure why his eyelashes are so long but they are - I think he got them from his dad. Girls would die if they saw it - it's perfectly natural and curly. I don't do anything to it! It was that way since he was born!

He is in pre-school now - just started in January of this year! He LOVES it! And I can't emphasize how much he loves it....I'm blessed that he wakes up every morning and is just a go getter - takes his bath, gets the clothes on, eats breakfast - and he's ready to head out the door. It's a great feeling for me too - for the parents - knowing that your kid loves school - for now! His likes - pretty much all toys that are at Toys-R-Us, the park (swings and slides he craves whenever we are there), eating lots of icecream, spaghetti, and way, waaayyy too much sugar! He's really into books now that he has started school for awhile. Playing games, watching his dvd's. He likes Thomas and Friends, the Backyardigans, Elmo, Blues Clues, Mickey Mouse, etc. Too many to name.

I'll be posting a lot of photos of him, and a lot of scrap booking projects of him - more so than any other used to love having my picture taken but now I'm more of the picture taker! I hold the camera now and the image of my future is's all about him! Love it!

A quick introduction...

Welcome to my blog! I've been blogging for a while now, but I haven't had the time to actually sit down and make a personal family blog, one that is just for my own personal enjoyment that focuses mostly on my ramblings, my truly crazy, everyday life, my husband and my 3-year-old son, Christopher - a blog where I can simply share my love for crafting, things that I've made along the way and any little tidbits of inspiration that life throws at me down the road. That's what I'm here share with you all my triumphs, my goals, hopes and dreams, any failures, all the good and bad, and everything in-between! :)
